Business in the front, endless adventure in the back.

Work at Wells Gray Medical Clinic and Dr Helmcken Memorial Hospital in the day, enjoy our endless hiking, mountain biking, skiing and community events in the evening.

A collaborative approach with respect for individuality.

The Wells Gray Medical Clinic is the single clinic in Clearwater. Physicians each have their own panel of patients, and share care for the patients not yet attached to a single physician. They support each other by seeing urgent appointments for any patient, admitting through the ER until the family physician can take over, and supporting vacations if locum coverage is not available.

You can build in your own passions and interest - one of our physicians works at the nearest tertiary center in maternity a few days a month. Have a project you’d like to work on? The Physician Support Program through the Rural Coordination Center can help make that a reality.

1.0 and 0.5 FTE positions available to continue your career and adventure interests.

Dr Helmcken Memorial Hospital supports Clearwater and the surrounding communities of Vavenby, Birch Island, Avola, Little Fort, and Blue River for a catchment of 5000. The ER is up-to-date with a trauma room, 3 stretchers, and treatment chair with point of care ultrasound. You’ll care for your inpatients in our six-bed acute care ward and in our dedicated palliative care room. Attached is our 21-bed long term care facility, Forest View Place.

The hospital is service by x-ray, ECG and lab with 24/7 availability. Home Health and Home Support services work closely with the physician and nursing teams. Physiotherapy is available two days per week. Public Health also runs out of the hospital.

If a patient has higher needs than we can provide for, our tertiary referral center is Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, 1.5hrs down the highway. BC Ambulance Services and the High Acuity Response Team (HART) support these transfers.
